June 2017 Villa del Balbianello information
The villa is on the end of the peninsula at Lenno, and you can walk along the north side (about 20 mins from the gate/parking), or over the top (45 mins), or go by boat.
It is now owned by the Italian version of the National Trust, and has been used for several films. The Villa and Loggia were built in the 1700s.
There was a wedding in here – what a lovely setting
The Loggia connects the library and music room, and we could hear a harp
The church remains from an earlier monastery
If you come by boat, you arrive here
The parapet was added in the 1800s
The last owner was an explorer and collector. We didn’t go into the house, but the gardens were lovely
