Minterne Gardens

3rd November 2017

We stopped at Minterne Gardens (a member of the Historic Houses Association) on our way to Weymouth.

We parked by the church, which is next to the entrance to the Himalayan gardens.

The house was rebuilt in the early 1900s and is not open to the public

Landscaping started in the 18th century in the style of Capability Brown. There is a large lake and several cascades

Many of the trees were grown from seed brought back by Victorian plant hunters. There are lots of acers with lovely colours

Cascades

The bench is growing fungi

Some flowers were still out
