Parys mountain walk 2.5 miles
A way-marked walk around a curious landscape. The spoil heaps from the open cast copper mine have lots of different colours.
Copper has been mined here since the bronze age and may restart. It was at its height after 1768 when it was the largest copper mine in the world for ten years. Copper was sold to the British Navy to protect the ships’ timbers.
Amlwch Port
This little port was enlarged so that ships could collect the copper ore mined at Parys Mountain
