We stayed in a lovely flat in a great location, between the airport and Copenhagen city centre. The 5A bus goes from the airport to the main railway station, with bus stops near our road. Also there are several supermarkets and other shops nearby.
The transport system is very good. There are regional trains, several S-tog train lines to the suburbs, 2 Metro lines and buses. There is a zone system and we bought the travel card Rejsekort anonymt (like an Oyster card in London), where the journeys are half price compared with single tickets – very easy, just check in and out on buses and trains.
(You need a minimum of 50 DKK on your card for a journey, as it deducts this when you check in, then at the end of the journey, if the cost is less, it puts money back on.)
Copenhagen was quieter than we expected, clean, and easy to walk around. The main streets are wide, with separate cycle lanes, which have their own traffic lights. – and lots of people on bikes. People are very helpful – several times when we were looking at a map someone offered to help us.
It rained when we arrived and the next day was cloudy, but after that it was sunny and warm, so the weather was better than we had expected for the 3rd week in September.
