We visited the 19 original windmills at Kinderdijk, on original sites. All are still working, two are museums and the rest are lived in. They all had waterwheels at the bottom (most are inside the mills) and they moved water into the river.

A new and an old pumping station

There are nine brick windmills (left) and nine wood and thatch windmills (right)

This one is a museum

The bake house is separate

The horizontal markers on the post show past flood levels. There is one post mill, which has its water wheel on the outside. It is a museum.
